25 Years of Making Life Better in Our Communities

For 25 years, Challenger Homes has been more than a homebuilder. We’ve also been a neighbor, a supporter, and a community partner. Our mission of Making Life Better goes far beyond the walls of the homes we build. It’s about lifting up the people around us, from supporting local nonprofits to honoring hometown heroes and military families. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re proud to look back at how Challenger Homes and the Making Life Better Foundation have worked to make a difference.

The Making Life Better Foundation

Formed in 2013, the Making Life Better Foundation was built on a simple belief: that every person deserves access to food, clothing, shelter, and education. And this foundation looks for ways to create lasting change — helping people build self-reliance and dignity for the long term.

Over the years, the foundation has:

  • Funded the construction of 10 homes for families in need.
  • Supported educational initiatives with tens of thousands of dollars.
  • Supplied food to countless individuals facing hunger
  • Provided more than $5.3 million in charitable contributions overall

For example, recent initiatives include volunteer trips to build homes in Agua Prieta, Mexico, providing meals to over 1,000 people in need. Additionally, we’re proud to support organizations like Tri-Lakes Cares, Pikes Peak Academy, and Habitat for Humanity.

Supporting Military Homebuyers

Colorado Springs is home to thousands of active-duty military members and veterans, and Challenger has always been proud to support those who serve. Through our Military Homebuyers Program, we’ve provided more than $15 million in savings to military families. These incentives include discounted pricing, help with closing costs, and personalized guidance through the buying process, making homeownership more accessible for those who’ve dedicated their lives to protecting ours. For us, it’s a small way of saying thank you to the men and women who serve our country.

Honoring Hometown Heroes

It’s not just military families who make our communities strong. Every day, first responders, educators, and local service professionals go above and beyond to keep our neighborhoods safe, supported, and thriving. Through our Hometown Heroes program, Challenger Homes offers special benefits and savings to these local champions. Whether it’s a teacher shaping young minds or a firefighter keeping families safe, we believe in recognizing the people who make our communities better places to live. After all, they’re experts at Making Life Better, too!

Giving Back Where We Live

Beyond programs and foundations, Challenger employees and partners roll up their sleeves to make a direct impact. From food drives with Care & Share and Woodmen Valley Chapel to volunteering at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, our teams give their time, energy, and resources to support neighbors in need. In fact, Challenger employees are even given volunteer time off to dedicate to community projects they care about most. This hands-on involvement is part of who we are: a company that believes in building stronger neighborhoods, not just new homes.

25 Years in and Just Getting Started

In 25 years, Challenger Homes has built more than 10,500 homes and generated billions in economic impact. However, the numbers only tell part of the story. What we’re most proud of is the ripple effect: the families lifted, the communities strengthened, and the opportunities created. As we celebrate this anniversary, we’re reminded that Making Life Better isn’t a slogan. It’s a mission that guides us every day — and one we’re committed to carrying forward.
