Just because summer is over doesn’t mean you can’t get outside! These hikes near Loveland, Colorado are perfect for enjoying when the weather gets a bit cooler.

 

Prairie Ridge Natural Area

Prairie Ridge Natural Area

First, Prairie Ridge Natural Area is the area’s newest natural area located in northwest Loveland. In addition to easy, family-friendly hikes, Prairie Ridge’s 2.4-mile trail system is great for trail running, horseback riding, mountain biking and more. However, dogs aren’t allowed so be sure to leave them at home!

 

Coyote Ridge Trail

Coyote Ridge Trail

Another easy hike near Loveland is Coyote Ridge Trail. This 4.1-mile out-and-back trail is very scenic and perfect for hikers of all levels. In addition, it’s a great trail to hike year-round!

 

Marina Butte Hogback Trail

Marina Butte Hogback Trail

For a moderate hike, try the Marina Butte Hogback Trail. The first part of this 1.6-mile trail has wonderful panoramic views of the front range. The second part goes along the back side of the Mariana butte hogback rock formation leading to the Big Thompson River.

 

Sheep Mountain

Summit Adventure Trail

Finally, a more difficult hike is found on the Summit Adventure Trail located 12 miles west of Loveland. This more challenging trail is 4.5 miles one way to the summit of Sheep Mountain. Keep in mind, you should set aside a full day for this hike (about 6-8 hours) but the views at the top are certainly worth it!
