Pikes Peak International Hill Climb
June 22, 2025
There’s nothing else quite like it. The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, also known as “The Race to the Clouds,” draws elite drivers from around the world to compete in a white-knuckle sprint to the 14,115-foot summit of Pikes Peak. Before race day, on June 20th, the city throws a massive Fan Fest downtown with food vendors, motorcycle stunt shows, race cars on display, and live music. Even if you’re not a motorsports person, the adrenaline and energy are contagious.
Fourth of July Symphony & Fireworks
July 4, 2025
Looking for a memorable way to spend the 4th of July? Join the Colorado Springs community for the Star Spangled Symphony & Fourth of July Fireworks, a beloved tradition that combines the stirring sounds of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic with a dazzling fireworks display.
The fireworks display will be visible from across the city, with live viewing opportunities at Banning Lewis Ranch, the Colorado Springs Switchbacks game, the Rocky Mountain Vibes game and more. At 9:15, be sure to tune in to Rocky Mountain PBS or local radio stations for a free Philharmonic performance of patriotic favorites in conjunction with the fireworks.
Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo
July 8 – 12, 2025
Western heritage runs deep in Colorado Springs, and that’s certainly the case at the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo. This weeklong event has been going strong since 1937 and features professional rodeo events like bull riding, team roping, and barrel racing. It’s held at Norris Penrose Event Center, and it’s not just about the action: it’s also a major fundraiser for local military families. Expect good food, great entertainment, and a whole lot of cowboy hats.
El Paso County Fair
July 12 – 19, 2025
Sometimes you just want a classic summer fair — and this one delivers. The El Paso County Fair in Calhan offers everything from carnival rides and rodeo shows to livestock competitions and funnel cakes. There are theme nights, live concerts, and even a demolition derby. It’s the kind of event where kids get dirt on their shoes, teens win stuffed animals, and grown-ups get nostalgic. It’s just a short drive from the Springs, and worth it for the full fairground experience.
